Tension bands are used to attach the chain link fence fabric to line posts and terminal posts. They are commonly used to attach chain link fabric to gate frames.  Fence bands should be spaced 10-14" apart. As a rule of thumb, you should use one less tension band than the height of fence you are installing (i.e. a 6' high fence uses 5 tension bands). It never hurts to have too many tension bands, it is always good to order a few more than you think you will need. If you don't end up using them all, you can just put the extra tension bands in the garage just in case you need to repair your fence later
